A digital detox camp and challenge to find a long-term balance with social media
GRUMES, VAL DI CEMBRA (TRENTO, ITALY). 3-8 MAY 2026
The Social Media Detox - Challenge Camp is a one-week digital detox experience for students at the University of Trento's School of Innovation. Set against the stunning backdrop of Trentino's mountain valleys, this phone-free camp is built on the challenge-based methodology. At the Camp, students will be challenged to develop a sustainable and long-lasting strategy to establish a healthy and balanced relationship with social media.
To facilitate the development of this strategy, the camp will ban cell phones and combine training courses with group activities, including hikes, sports and nature bathing activities, yoga and mindfulness classes, art workshops, phone-free parties, and night activities.
Every camp day will be organized in two stages: the first will be dedicated to independent study and group work to tackle the challenge, the second, to guided group activities. Such camp structure will allow participants to address issues such as digital addiction, loneliness, sedentary lifestyles, nature deficit disorder, and the reduction of face-to-face interactions.
Grouped in competing work teams, students will present, at the end of the week, their solution and strategy to promote a long-term healthy balance with social media.
